Play with the viewer’s sense of distance from your photo.

Kim Watson says, ” Have you ever happened on a situation where you have felt like an outsider looking in? It’s almost like looking through a window at something in the distance. I felt like this at the time when I took this photograph. I wanted to recreate the feeling of being pulled into the scene from the outside.”

She says, ” Several things create and enhance the illusion of distance for the viewer of the page. The elements clustered in the foreground of the page composition work with the pulled-back drape on the left hand side. Their combination with the enlarged photograph of my husband and son silently watching the ocean establish a separation between the viewer and the viewed. The composition conveys the sense of “pushing,” helping to launch the viewer towards the title in the distance.
