TITLE DESIGN | Free Flowers by Emily Pitts

Titlework as focal point.

Emily Pitts often uses a title that’s pulled from and even visually linked to her journaling. On “Free Flowers,” her title is an oversized focal point of the page and conveys much of her story. She uses green alphas in two shades and sizes along with a bold red hand-cut word to create this focal point. The title grows out of the journaling, in size and in impact. The red of her hand-cut word is echoed in two embellishment spots creating a downward diagonal flow.

Emily says, “By using different kinds of typography, it’s easy to take the viewer by the hand and walk them through your design.”
