Make a split background of two prints.
Amy Kingsford divided her page in two vertical bands with a lined notebook print on the left and a woodgrain on the right. The two contrast greatly in value, and the lighter print makes a great backdrop for her journaling while the darker woodgrain allows her photo to pop.
Notice that the woodgrain is turned to run horizontally just like the lines on the notebook print.
