Tell the story of an incident.
Emily Pitts tells the story of how her husband remembers sucking on doilies as a child in a way that conveys fun and, also, a sense of home and personal history.
She used a small black-and-white photo of her husband and a journaling+titlework approach that melds the two and pulls us immediately into her story, especially with a title like: “I used to eat doilies.”
Emily says her design grew around the doily: “I used use colors that had a 1970s vibe (mint + red), the decade my husband was a little boy, and I added a chipboard house to make it feel even more vintage-y. ”
