GALLERY | Giggle by Michele Clement

Michelle Clement’s “Giggle” is a joyous celebration of her own childhood. The single photo of baby on the lawn is surrounded with colorful cut flowers and hand painted touches. Notice the many layers for the photo starting with a hand painted frame and working up with hand stitching and sewn-down buttons.

Notice also the many “frames” on the page starting with the photo cluster sitting on a large white mat. The mat has rounded corners, a stitched border and a wonky photo corner at bottom right.

That piece is then mounted on pink cardstock, which has yet another framing technique: darker paint around two corners.

Michelle says, “I love this page because I was in an ‘artsy’ mood when I made it, and it’s one of those that magically worked out without much of a plan! I set out to layer lots of stickers, and ended up with a happy, sewn, painted mess of a page – but it manages to look pulled together, still, and it really highlights the mood of the photo from my childhood.”
