Back up peek-a-boo die-cut openings with patterned paper.
Ashley Calder says, “I wanted this layout to feel cozy and homey, suited to a new baby, without being too babyish. I added in materials that reminded me of home: sewing pattern tissue, a fabric yo-yo embellishment, silky mint seam binding, and a scrap of vintage fabric. I didn’t want this page to be too soft and babyish, so I added in other bold elements to play against the soft, homey elements.”
Dark blue floral patterned paper peeks through the heart cutouts. This is softened by the gold-foil-striped vellum.
Ashley says, “The layering, the effect of the dark blue side borders, and the contrast between the harsher and softer elements of this layout create an energy that reflects the story I told in the journaling.”
