THEME CRAFTED| Poised by Doris Sander

Represent where you’ve been and where you are going with pattern, motif, color and design in a theme-crafted story.

Doris Sander tells a visual story of herself at college graduation, one foot in the genteel south of her life until this moment and another about to embark upon a life teaching in Guatemala.

She says, “I wanted my page to show the difference between the life I had lived in the south up to this point with the new future I was heading towards. I showed my s gentility on the left through floral patterned papers, gold foil leaves, and a lace punch. I contrasted this with a stark white tiled background on the right. I deliberately left the background plain like this because I was uncertain what my life would be like when I got off the plane in Guatemala. For my embellishments, I went with a travel theme with airplanes, luggage, and a world map. ”
