A thematic and visual statement with titlework.
Doris Sander says, “This is what I refer to as a statement page. The title work is the focus, and there is minimal embellishment on the rest of the page.”
“The page is all about how much my son and I love the rain and how my attempts to capture it on film are feeble. I stacked three photos from the day on the right and then tried to mimic the look of a good rainfall on the left with mists and distress stains.”
“For the titlework, I chose alphas that enhanced the major words in my title: green for life, blue for rain, and a tilted script for the word fall.”
“The words with lesser importance are in smaller, less vivid, alphas that fade into the background a bit more. I used alphas that all had dimension to give the title cohesiveness. If you would like to experiment with this type of title work, I suggest choosing a unifying factor. This could be using alphas all in the same color family, or using typefaces of the same style (all serif, sans serif, or script). If you’re going to attempt a multi-colored creation in all three types of font families, then be prepared for a lot of time spent on trial and error!”
